The Short Eared Dog also known as the Short eared Zorro is an incredible animal. It lives in the Amazon Rainforest, Peru, and Brazil. This wild dog is mainly a carnivore its diet includes fish, small mammals, birds, insects, frogs, crabs, various fruits. Short eared dogs are solitary animals this means they live alone. The Short eared dog has short skinny legs. They have a fox like muzzle and partly webbed paws. Females are slightly larger than males being 1/3 larger than a male. The lifespan of the Short Eared dog is estimated to live 10 to 12 years old. They are 33 inches long and 12 to 16 inches tall. They weigh 20 to 22 pounds. A fun fact is when stressed they release a musky skunk like odor. Its feet are narrow, soft padded, and leave barely visible tracks. It also uses moonlight to travel, a camera trap Peru and the Ecuador found that short eared dogs are twice as active dUring full moons. This might help them see in flooded areas and avoid predators like jaguars.
