The Asiatic Cheetah is a beautiful wildcat that is critically endangered and not commonly known. Let's dive in! The Asiatic Cheetah is a little different from its African cousin one difference is some Asiatic Cheetahs have a small mane and they are a little smaller than the ones from Africa. Asiatic cheetahs weigh between 75 and 119 pounds. 44 to 53 inches long not including the tail. They are also 26 to 37 inches tall at the shoulder. This species is sexually dimorphic with males typically being larger than females. These Cheetahs only live in Iran now they used to spread vastly among the continent of Asia, but now their could be as low as 30 to 40 individuals left in the wild. The Asiatic Cheetahs mainly feed on ungulates and rodents such as Chinkara, Goitered Gazelle, wild sheep, wild goat, and Cape Hare. Part of its former diet which was when it was in India was Blackbuck, Nilgai, and Chital. Cheetahs can run up to 75 miles per hour. they can go from 0 miles per hour to 60 miles per hour in just 3 seconds this show just how much control they have on their speed shift. Their bite force is between 475 to 500 PSI. Even though their is little hope left for the Asiatic cheetah a female was spotted with 5 cubs in January of 2026. Another female has successfully raised 3 litters of cubs and recently her cub gave birth in 2019. Also as of 2024 she is the most prolific female known. Cubs are born blind and are basically helpless which makes them even more vulnerable and they live in the desert which makes them more exposed due to the fact that theirs not a lot of hiding places for shelter. Asiatic cheetahs compete with wolves for prey so if a prey species went extinct the Asiatic Cheetah would go extinct along with the wolf. As You can see the Asiatic Cheetah is an in incredible and it is critical we preserve and protect this species.
