Like many other species the Tasmanian Devil is sexually dimorphic with males being larger than females. Males have a body length of 25.7 inches long with a tail length of 10. 2 inches. The males typically weigh 18 pounds. They are also about 8 to 12 inches tall at the shoulders. Females weigh 13 pounds and have a body length 22 inches long. They also have the same height. Tasmanian Devils have been observed running at. speeds up to 16 miles per hour , but if they do run it will usually be 8 miles per hour. Tasmanian devil markings can be all black some can have a little patch of white on the chest. 16% of wild Tasmanian devils have no white markings. The Tasmanian Devils lifespan is 5 years in the wild, and they are fully grown at the age of 2 years. Tasmanian Devils store fat and if a Tasmanian Devil has a fat tail it means it is healthy. Tasmanian Devils former range was in mainland Australia until the introduction of dingoes about 3,500 years ago now they are only found in Tasmania. Tasmanian Devils are mainly scavengers, but they do regularly take down prey such as small kangaroos, Potoroos, Wombats, Wallabies, Bettongs, fish, and fruit depending on whats available. The Tasmanian Devil does favor Wombat due to its high fat content and nutrition benefits. Breeding season is in March and they are barn in March or in April.
