Striped Hyena

The Striped Hyena is native to north Africa, east Africa, and various Asian countries. They are the smallest bone cracking hyena. Adults weigh 49 pounds to 121 pounds and are 2.5 to 3 feet tall. The striped hyena is primarily a scavenger feeding on ungulate carcasses. This Hyena usually digs its own den but sometimes they will establish Its lairs in caves, rock fissures, erosion channels, and burrows recently occupied from porcupines, warthogs, aardvarks, and wolves. The Striped Hyena is primarily nocturnal and avoids daylight then comes out at night. When a Striped Hyena Is scared or feels as If It Is threatened It will screech a loud screech. The Female Striped hyena has a gestation period of about 90 days. The female Striped Hyena gives birth to 4 to 5 cubs in a litter. Cubs are ready to be independent by 1 year of age. This Magnificent Species of hyena will play dead when they are out numbered. The Striped hyena will scavenge carcasses, trash, and even grave yards!!
