Polar Bear

The Polar Bear is a large mammal that is truly majestic and incredible. The polar bear is the largest species of bear in the world. Male Polar Bears weigh between 660 pounds and 1,760 pounds. Females weigh between 330 to 770 pounds. Males are 6.6 to 8.2 feet long while females are 5.9 to 6.6 feet long. They are 4.3 to 5.2 feet tall on all fours, but on two legs they can stand up to be between 8 and 10 feet tall. Some giant males have been recorded to be 12 feet tall. The Polar Bear eats ringed seals, bearded seals, harp seals, hooded seals, harbor seals, Spotted seals, ribbon seals. Besides their main source of food seals they will also eat beluga whales, sea weed, narwals, birds, eggs, dead large whale carcasses, and sea invertebrates. Cannibalism os also known to occur In this large species of mammal. They will occasionally hunt walruses. They usually target young ones with smaller tusks. The Polar Bear lives in Greenland, Canada, Alaska, Russia, and some parts of the Archipelago Islands. They can also be found In the North Pole. Female Polar Bears give birth to two cubs in a litter. She usually digs a den it is 4 feet wide and and 3 feet tall in the den. Since the den is out of the wind temperatures in the den can be much warmer inside the den than the outside temperature. Polar Bears live up to 30 years this long lifespan gives them the opportunity to have many sets of off spring through their life. Though Polar bears hair may seem white it is actually clear and due to their arctic environment It makes their fur seem white. Another fact Is that Polar Bears skin Is actually brown! Adult Polar Bears can run up to 25 miles per hour. The Polar Bears bite force Is 1,120 PSI. When a Polar Bear Is traveling they do not trot they walk or gallop.
