The Oenpeli Python ( Owen- pelly- python) is considered the worlds rarest Python. They grow 13 feet but reports have said there was a 16 foot one. It feeds on birds in fruit trees and medium sized mammals. There eggs are considered to be large, they lay 5 to 9 eggs in every clutch . Incubation period takes 60 to 90 days until the eggs hatch. They are in the solitary group and there main predator for them is invasive animals. The OenPeli Python is a mainly nocturnal python and is indigenous to Australia specifically the northern territory. They use rocky outcrops, Gorges, and Caves as a shelter in their rocky environment. This species of python is arboreal, and terrestrial. Females are typically larger than males this is called sexual dimorphism this means on gender Is large than the other. This species most likely lives 20 or more years In the wild. The Oenpeli python was first described In 1804 and formally described In 1977 by a herpetologist. As all other pythons they are non venomous and kill by constriction. Their skeletal structure is adapted for climbing.
