Males use sharp fangs to defend their territory or to fight for mates. the Java Mouse Deer's mating season is between November and December. The Java mouse deer usually gives birth to one fawn. Though the Java Mouse Deer has a small appearance they can reach speeds up to 30 miles per hour. When frightened the Java mouse deer can jump up to 3 feet in the air.
