The Greater Rhea is the Largest native bird in the Americas, but it is also a magnificent species of bird. The Greater Rhea inhabits grassy wetlands, savannas, and grasslands. The greater Rhea is native to South America. They are non native to Northern Germany due to an escape in the 1990s. The Greater Rhea weighs up to 60 Lbs. The greater Rhea can grow to be 3 to 5 feet tall but average height is 4.9 feet tall. The greater Rhea eats thistles and Tubers. Greater Rhea predators are limited to cougars, Jaguars, and feral dogs. During mating season they will form flocks up to 10 to 100 birds. When mating season is happening males will become aggressive towards each other. The greater rhea is the third largest bird and is flightless like the ostrich.
