The Gharial is a fierce yet beautiful creature let's dive in. Female Gharials can grow between 9 and 14 feet long, while males can grow between 9 ft to19ft long. The average weight of a Gharial is between 350 and 400 pounds. The Gharial is incredibly aquatic. It only comes on land to bask. Females lay around 20 to 95 eggs during mating season. During the cold season they come up daily to bask. Since the Gharial is a cold blooded animal it has to bask in the sun to gain heat. They have a long slender snout with 110 teeth that are highly adapted for catching fish. The Gharial is a critically endangered species with only 3,000 left globally. The Gharial lives in India and Nepal.
