Fossa

The Fossa Is the largest carnivore endemic to Madagascar and It Is Incredibly unique and has some surprising features that you get to learn about. The Fossa Is a sexually dimorphic species with males being only slightly larger than females. Males weigh between 15 and 26 pounds while females are 12 to 18 pounds. their overall body length Is around 2.26 feet long. at the shoulder a male fossa Is between 14 and 16 Inches tall while females are around12 to 14 Inches tall. The Fossa Is endemic to Madagascar and It Is the largest mammalian carnivore there. The Fossa preys on Lemurs, Reptiles, Insects, Birds, Rodents, Amphibians, and Small mammals. One unique adaptation that the Fossa has Is Its ankles are flexible which allow It to climb down trees forward or backwards. Its claws are retractable as well. The Fossa can also hunt on the ground or In the forest canopy. Fossa's are Cathermal meaning they're awake In the day and In the night. Fossa's often breed between October and September. Female Fossa's can birthe any number between 1 and 6 kits. Some large Fossa's are compared to a small cougar which gives you a visualization of their size.
