The Fishing Cat is a truly amazing species that has an amazing talent. The female Fishing Cat weighs 11 to 20 pounds, while males weigh 18 to 37 pounds. The Body length of the Fishing cat is 22 to 31 inches long. The Fishing cats tail can reach weights in between 8 and 12 inches. The Fishing cats paws are partially webbed which is one of its adaptations two its aquatic habitat. The Fishing cat is about two times the size of a domestic cat. The fishing cat is broadly yet discontinuously found in South and Southeast Asia. The fishing Cat lives in thick vegetation near water. The Fishing Cat is thought to be nocturnal, the Fishing cat is also a proficient underwater swimmer. The Fishing Cat marks its home range by head rubbing, cheek rubbing, chin rubbing, neck, or instead of rubbing it will use urine to leave a scent and marking there territory. The Fishing cat eats birds, small rodents, insects, mollusks, reptiles, amphibians, carrion of cattle, flat head gray mullet, green chromide, Mozambique tilapia, and crabs. Fishing cats most likely mate during the months January and February, but some may mate as late as June. Female Fishing cats give birth to two to three kittens. Juvenile fishing cats begin eating solid food and playing in water when they are about two months old. Fishing Cats usually develop their canine teeth when they are 11 months old. They are sexually mature when they reach 15 months of age. They can live up to 10 years in captivity.
