The black Caiman is an endangered species but has other abilities are going to wow you. They are 7 to 16 feet long and weigh 209 to 276 pounds. The color helps with camouflage during there nocturnal hunts. Black caimans are apex predators they eat piranhas, perch, and catfish. they lay up to 65 eggs but usually 30 to 60. Hatching occurs 42 to 90 days. A marsh Is an Ideal habitat for a new hatchling. They live 50 to 80 years long. The distinct color of the Black Caiman helps not only to with camouflage, but It also absorbs the heat the sun gives off. the Black Caiman has 70 teeth that it uses to rip flesh off of their prey. The Black Caiman is a solitary animal and is highly territorial especially males. They can hold their breath up to 15 minutes and they have a palatal valve to not let water get in their mouth while eating prey that has been caught in the water. Black Caimans eyes glow red in lights. They also are more aggressive than any other caimn species.
