The Asiatic Black Bear is an incredible species of bear that should be known more so let's dive in. The Asiatic Black bear has black fur a light brown snout and a crescent shaped white patch on their chest. They can be a golden or blonde color this color variation may change the bear's name to the golden moon bear. Though this color variation does change the appearance it is the same species of bear. Adult bears are 28 to 39 inches tall at the shoulders. They are 47 to 75 inches long when they are fully grown. Adult males weigh between 130 to 440 pound, while females weigh 88 pounds to 276 pounds. They Live in Bangladesh, China, Korea, Pakistan, Siberia, Taiwan. They're diurnal in the wild, but when they are exposed to human habitations they become nocturnal. They are excellent climbers on trees and rocks. They will climb to feed, rest, bask in the sun, hibernate, and escape predators. In the Ussuri territory in the Russian far east these asiatic Black bears will spend as much 15% of their time in trees. Asiatic Black Bears will prepare a den in mid October and they will hibernate through November to March. The asiatic Black bear Females start breeding between mid June to mid August. Females give birth to 1 to 4 cubs per litter, but the average is 2. The Asiatic black bear is definitely an opportunistic predator. It has a wide variety of food it will eat. It feeds on insects, beetle larvae, invertebrates, termites, grubs, carrion, bees, eggs, garbage, mushrooms, grasses, bark, roots, tubers, fruits, nuts, seeds, honey, herbs, acorns, cherries, dogwood and grain. It will also eat Bird cherries, pine cones, and once it was observed eating grapes off a vine. It was also reported killing and eating Hanuman langurs. Wild ungulate prey includes serow, Malayan Tapirs, Takin, an wild boars. They are preyed on by Tigers and Eurasian brown bears. Cubs are preyed on by leopards.
