The American crocodile weights 880 LBS and can reach lengths of 6 to 9 feet long but sometimes they'll be 23 feet long. They eat birds, mammals, turtles lizards, snakes, and other crocodilians. The average clutch size is 38 eggs. They can walk 10 MPH and they can swim 20 MPH. There bite force is 5,000 PSI. They live 50 to 70 years but some may live to be 100 years old. There are 5,000 left in the world so this puts them on the IUCN red list as vulnerable. The American crocodile was discovered in 1807 in 1822 the presence of them was suggested but conformation by science was not made until 1869.
