The American Black Bear is a well known, large mammal that is found across North America. The average weight for a male 126 ponds to 551 pounds. The Average weight for A female is 90 pounds to 375 pounds. Adults have a length 47 inches to 79 inches and is 28 to 41 inches tall. The American Black Bear has keen sense of smell being nearly seven times stronger than a dogs. The American black bear is an incredible and strong swimmer. The American Black Bear will swim for joy and to feed primarily on fish in the water. The American Black bear will climb trees normally to feed on foods sources in the tree, to escape enemies, and to hibernate. Black bears may be seen during the day, but they are mainly nocturnal. When these animals find an abundant food source hierarchies form, usually the most dominant male will have most access to whatever food source they are feeding on. These Bears may communicate using vocal and non vocal sounds such as tongue clicks, grunting, or a low rumbling hum. Black Bears eat Blue berries, Raspberries, Black Berries, Acorns, Hazel nuts, and other various species of nuts, bees, grubs, other various insects, fish, Voles, Mice, Squirrel, Carrion, moose calves, fauns, and even beavers. The females have their first litter between the ages 3 to 5 years old. They have one to six cubs in a litter. The average lifespan in the wild is up to 18 years in the wild.
